WHAT IS OUR THROAT CHAKRA?
Our throat chakra is our fifth chakra and is responsible for self expression and creativity. This chakra helps us be unique to ourselves and to be genuine. This allows us to speak our truths and express ourselves how we wish.
WHERE IS OUR THROAT CHAKRA LOCATED?
Center of throat.
WHAT DOES OUR THROAT CHAKRA DO?
As I mentioned earlier, our throat chakra is responsible for how we express ourselves and our creativity. When we are in balance with this chakra, we have no trouble expressing ourselves in healthy and positive ways. This allows us to speak our truth, not the truth of others and it also allows us to know when to shut up and listen.
When this chakra is overactive, we can find ourselves gossiping about others, which is something that never really brings any positive energy into our lives. We can have a hard time realizing that we are talking about ourselves too much, and struggle with knowing when to be quiet and listen. We can also be very critical of others, basically when this chakra is overactive, it's like we have mean girl syndrome and we never really give anyone the grace they deserve. This chakra when both over active and under active can present with thyroid issues, gum disease and sore throats.
When we are under active in our throat chakras, we tend to be nervous and timid. We never speak up and allow people to walk all over us. We may present as shy, introverted and "weird". When we are under active, we also have trouble saying our truth, and speaking up against injustice against us.
HOW DO I BALANCE MY THROAT CHAKRA?
The first step towards balancing any chakra is to examine the energy around you, your aura and your chakra. How does it feel to you? Is the energy stagnant, or is it vibrant and flowing? What do you feel? How are you reacting to external factors? Are you respecting yourself and others?
All of these answers will help you evaluate where your chakra is in relation to how in balance it should be. Yoga and meditation are both great ways for balancing your chakras, and if you don’t feel comfortable balancing your chakras by yourself- Reiki, Chakra Massages or a Chakra Cleansing session would benefit you and help you find balance in your chakras. I am proud to offer Chakra Cleansing Sessions via video chat. Learn More..
But truly- how do you balance a chakra??
BALANCING YOUR CHAKRA'S YOURSELF
I am a firm believer in self healing, and helping others heal themselves and make their own discoveries. With our throat chakra, chanting is a great method for releasing energy blocks. When I balance my Chakra’s, I first focus on the Chakra itself. What does it look like? Is it rotating? What shape is it? What color is it? Is it dirty? Can I clean it?
The heart throat is supposed to be a beautiful turquoise color. The color blue ranges from 600–680THz, and the sound wave that resonated best with throat chakra healing is the 384hz frequency.
You have options with sound therapies, teas, herbs, and essential oils to help loosen up issues we might have in our throat chakra, and release tensions that we might be holding onto in these areas. Yoga is a great psychical method to releasing energy stored in our chakras, but truly fixing the issue, requires deep personal growth and healing.
So it is safe to say if you imagine your throat chakra to have a dark blue- like a navy blue chakra, that you are vibrating too low, and need to raise that vibration or frequency up until the color appears to be a normal turquoise blue.
So- how do we do this? The real answer?? That is shadow work or a soul retrival. (Learn more about shadow work here) Because issues with our Chakra's are typically linked with past trauma’s- such as childhood memories, spouse abuse, interactions with others and believing in ourselves or feeling like we belong- these issues can’t typically just be willed away. They must first be brought into the light, addressed and healed before you can move forward past them.
I suggest meditating every night as you are laying in bed to fall asleep. Put in some headphones, find a guided meditation you enjoy and drift off to sleep to the meditation. Often times you will not only find a better nights sleep, but you will receive messages from spirit in your dreams, find some inner peace and balance too!
There are meditations you can do to periodically balance out your throat chakra and help you find temporary balance- but know that they will need to be repeated often until your underlying issues are addressed, and aren’t a permanent fix. Definitely a good option, but they are mostly treating the symptom, not the cause of the troubles.
These meditations focus on bringing that vibration to 384hz. This means when the chakra is a turquoise that is too bright or too dark, or when their color is a pink, orange, black or maroon that you are below or above the color frequency for turquoise, and must work on either adding or removing energy from this chakra.
If you are struggling with envisioning the color of your chakra changing, using sound meditations can really help to bring the right energy into your chakra.
You can do this by incorporating music into meditations, as your Heart Chakra vibrates around the same frequency as the G note. Simply YouTube “384 meditation” or type this into your Spotify. I have included a throat chakra meditation embedded below.
Epsom Salt Baths are a godsend. Seriously. I thoroughly enjoy my soaks in the tub with these bath salts (I like the Himalayan Pink Salt Epsom Salts the best), mixed with my favorite essential oils and some candle light.
If you aren’t much into baths- which I know some folks aren’t- you can still take care of yourself and find a little balance elsewhere. A nice walk in the park or nature, a good cup of coffee while you sit and enjoy it, or spending time with your pets are all great ways to help treat yourself.
The most important key to having a balanced throat chakra is standing up for yourself, speaking your truths out of kindness and love and expressing yourself in a way that resonates with who you are.
