The Basics

The period of time we are in right now is volatile, delicate and to be honest, feels a bit like when you have a broncy horse on a brisk spring morning…. Just waiting for all h to break loose!

Everyone is on edge, very few are communicating their thoughts without expressing emotions and for that matter, many people are responding with their emotions rather than logic. I mean, I’ve been there- I’ve done it twice the last few weeks. Tensions are high!!

I went out hiking with my husband, and had the most beautiful experience. Archbishop Viganò wrote a letter about the concerns he has, and that letter strongly concerned me. That letter had been weighing on my mind since I initially read it on Saturday, so getting to get outdoors and get my mind off of it was a nice change of pace.

We drove down to the banks of the Missouri river and began our hike around the barely there flood waters. The amount of pure glory I experienced yesterday on that hike was amazing, no phenomenal. I walked through a waist deep field of grass, and had hundreds of butter flies fly up around my husband and I. I sat on a tree bridged that crossed a little creek and watched as fish swam up into the creek to lay their eggs.

I saw a doe and a newborn baby fawn, heard thousands of birds singing as the wind gently blew the trees overhead. And I experienced God.

I meditated in the woodlands along the Missouri River. I meditated and asked what are we supposed to do to fight this “Biblical” war that was coming.

I had been feeling this for years, but I’d never seen a religious figure such as an Archbishop state it!

The answer I received was just purely divine. The answer is to follow the basic rules of life. Be kind to everyone, no matter their political opinion or bias. Love yourself, stop being so hard on yourself when life seems to be failing you, when you can’t seem to figure it out or lost everything in a matter of one night. Find some grace for yourself, and for those around you. Love everyone, not just your friends. Stop saying things like “I hate everyone” etc. Stop focusing on the negatives in life, and begin to count the blessings you have.

Now more than ever we need to find our souls, nourish them and protect them from hate, greed, resentment and anger.
