I first began my path with reiki around 2013. I was riding in the badlands with a client of mine, and my horse had some rock give away under us and she started to fall down the hill side. This was a really steep hill, with some massive drops off of either side of the slope, so it was fairly frightening.  By the Grace of God, Shiloh caught herself and kept us from tumbling to severe injury or death. But in doing so, she had suffered some injury herself.  Once we got back to the place, it was pitch dark out.  We were about two hours from the house when the accident happened, and it was slow moving coming home that night.

We gave her some bute, rubbed some liniment on the sore areas and put her up for the night. The next morning we made a trip to the vet, where the vet found some deep muscle damage in her shoulder and that her sternum was out of adjustment. The recovery on this was going to be close to a year.  So I began researching methods of what I could do to help aid in recovery. I began studying essential oils and their use with horses, equine massage and stretching exercises recommended by our chiropractor.

When I began using the essential oils is when I began becoming attuned to this energy. At the time I had no idea what this energy was, but I knew I had it. The more I worked with Shiloh to help her heal, the more in tune I felt with this energy.  Every day the two of us would work together as she taught me how to heal, and I healed her.  At that time I didn't know what this energy was called, I didn't really care to name it if we are being honest. I just knew in my heart it came from God. That it was a blessing and that it changed my horses life. (If I only knew how amazing this energy was, give me a break I was 21.)

Equine Reiki
Shiloh and Tori 2013

My reiki journey.

Reiki is the energy that connects our higher self with everything around us and is the life force energy from the Earth. We all possess the ability to work with reiki, but often times are afraid or uncertain about what reiki is. As we progress down our spiritual path, we might feel drawn to study reiki and learn how to heal others using reiki. The study of this energy spans across many ancient cultures.

When I began studying this energy, all I was doing was reading the horse while doing massage. I began fine tuning training methods I had learned from old cowboys, clinicians and horseman in my life. I remember my dad telling me little tips about listening to the horse, about respecting the horse and connecting with the horse. In these first few steps in my journey, it wasn't "energy healing" it was as simple as grooming my horse, rubbing my horse down after a long ride, chores, and of course my horses favorite "essential oil massages"- she loved them so much it became a problem! LOL

Reiki is simple, so simple we don't need to overcomplicate it by our constructs of cultures, languages or political correctness. Reiki is divine energy. Reiki comes from the Heavens, from the Earth and is the life force of everything that surrounds us. Reiki has the similar layout as our souls, it is a divine energy that can't be measured, but can be felt with every breath we take.

I work with two different kinds of energy that are both very very similar to Mikao Usui's reiki teachings. These two energies are Shamanic Reiki and Angelic Reiki.  Shamanic Reiki was my foundation into this reiki energy, and is a gift from the Creator. I know that being a Shaman is exactly why this reiki has came to me. It is why I am so connected to the Earth (Hell I used the word "land" in my name for Pete's sake).  But Angelic Reiki is relatively newer to me. I have only been practicing Angelic reiki for the two years or so after learning this Reiki from working with the Archangels. In that period of time, I worked with every Archangel and gathered lessons from each one.

Trust me when I say, this creeps me out at times. How couldn't it? Like I'm just a normal person, just doing normal things.. yet here I have all this stuff happening to me. And I have to just wonder, "How is this happening to me?".

But, in true "Tori" fashion, I had this answered for me. One night I'm laying in bed and I can't sleep. It's around 2am, so I climb out of bed and snuggle up on the couch, nose buried in my phone. I soon find myself buried in a blog about Bible journaling, and I come across the verse John 14:12-14.

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Spirituality is nothing more than a strong connection with the Divine. When we build that connection, God doesn't care what method we used to get there. If we got there through love in our hearts, kindness surrounding us and respect for creation, we will be blessed with a connection to the Divine.

Although I am Christian, that is not the only path to Divinity. Every religion has their own path to Divinity and regardless of WHICH path you chose, the Divine is still there. The only one who is telling you otherwise is the ego. The human ego keeps us from truly reaching the Divine. Because if we lacked the ego, we wouldn't care about who was right or who was wrong in their Faith. We would just be happy to see them walking a spiritual path.
