WHAT IS OUR HEART CHAKRA?
Our heart chakra is our fourth chakra and is responsible for empathy, love for our selves and love for others. Our heart chakra gives us the ability to share this love with others, and to really bring out the best in those around us. When our heart chakra is in balance, we are able to truly love without limitations, love without expectations and emit true love and light into our world.
Where is our Heart Chakra located?
Our heart chakra is located in our chest, behind our sternum.
What does our Heart Chakra do?
Our heart chakra is basically where our love and light emits from. Our heart chakra is the center for our own love and light, and gives us the power to share that peace and love with others around us. This allows us to bring out good qualities in others, as well as spreading that love around with everyone, including our selves.
The heart chakra is also where we tend to take hits personally. When we experience someone being hurtful to us, belittling us or making us feel inferior, we tend to absorb this in our heart chakra. The phrase "Don't take this to heart" is referencing our heart chakras, meaning, don't take this too personally or allow it to affect you on a deep level.
When we allow external influences (Or our self influences) to affect our heart chakra, we can cause damage that can heal in a manner that is unhealthy or detrimental to our well being (spiritual, emotional or physical)
After working on my own chakra well being, I noticed that after years of physical and emotional abuse from a toxic partner, my chakra had healed with abscesses, deep scars and had an infection type feel to it.
Once I was able to clear this out and help it heal correctly, I noticed a night and day difference with my perception and my reality. When our heart chakras are in balance, we are able to spread the love and peace with those around us, and it doesn't seem fake or forced. It just flows from us, because we are truly filled with it.
When we are overactive in our heart chakra, we tend to lash out at others, and have feelings of entitlement and jealousy. We might try to tear others down to make ourselves feel better, or be jealous of what others may have in their lives. The biggest sign that our heart chakra is overactive is when we blame others for our troubles and pains, instead of taking ownership for our situations and experiences.
An overactive heart chakra is also going to present itself when we are giving too much, and we get taken advantage of. We have all been there, where we give and give until we have nothing left to give, and someone walks all over us. It hurts, and can cause a trickle effect where we begin to blame others for this feeling, instead of owning up to the fact that we allowed them to behave in such a way.
When our heart chakras are underactive, it's almost the exact opposite of when it is overactive. We tend to cling to a feeling of not being good enough, and being full of self pity. These feelings typically come from a deeply wounded heart chakra. The majority of the time, some deep emotional healing must take place before you can find balance in your heart.
Before you can truly accept love, you must first truly love yourself. And that comes from healing your self from within, and finding balance and peace in your heart. I truly feel that we take most of our emotional blows to our heart chakra, because it is where radiance and love comes from. When we begin to act clingy or needy, it's time to ask ourselves why. Why are we lashing out in these ways? Why are we talking so poorly about ourselves or viewing ourselves in such a negative view?
As I mentioned, these typically come from a past emotional trauma. Counseling, shamanic healing and self discovery are the best ways to heal and move past these pains, and it is so important that we do so, because our heart is our center for everything- and when it is damaged we struggle with finding balance and peace.
How do I balance my Heart Chakra?
The first step towards balancing any chakra is to examine the energy around you, your aura and your chakra. How does it feel to you? Is the energy stagnant, or is it vibrant and flowing? What do you feel? How are you reacting to external factors? Are you respecting yourself and others?
All of these answers will help you evaluate where your chakra is in relation to how in balance it should be. Yoga and meditation are both great ways for balancing your chakras, and if you don’t feel comfortable balancing your chakras by yourself- Reiki, Chakra Massages or a Chakra Cleansing session would benefit you and help you find balance in your chakras. I am proud to offer Chakra Cleansing Sessions via video chat. Learn More..
But truly- how do you balance a chakra??
BALANCING YOUR CHAKRA'S YOURSELF
I am a firm believer in self healing, and helping others heal themselves and make their own discoveries. When I balance my Chakra’s, I first focus on the Chakra itself. What does it look like? Is it rotating? What shape is it? What color is it? Is it dirty? Can I clean it?
The heart chakra is supposed to be a beautiful green color. The color green ranges from 540–600THz, and the sound wave that resonated best with heart chakra healing is the 639hz frequency.
You have options with sound therapies, teas, herbs, and essential oils to help loosen up issues we might have in our heart chakra, and release tensions that we might be holding onto in these areas. Yoga is a great psychical method to releasing energy stored in our chakras, but truly fixing the issue, requires deep personal growth and healing.
So it is safe to say if you imagine your heart chakra to have a dark green- like a forest green chakra, that you are vibrating too low, and need to raise that vibration or frequency up until the color appears to be a normal green- like a emerald green.
So- how do we do this? The real answer?? That is shadow work or a soul retrival. (Learn more about shadow work here) Because issues with our Chakra's are typically linked with past trauma’s- such as childhood memories, spouse abuse, interactions with others and believing in ourselves or feeling like we belong- these issues can’t typically just be willed away. They must first be brought into the light, addressed and healed before you can move forward past them.
I suggest meditating every night as you are laying in bed to fall asleep. Put in some headphones, find a guided meditation you enjoy and drift off to sleep to the meditation. Often times you will not only find a better nights sleep, but you will receive messages from spirit in your dreams, find some inner peace and balance too!
There are meditations you can do to periodically balance out your heart chakra and help you find temporary balance- but know that they will need to be repeated often until your underlying issues are addressed, and aren’t a permanent fix. Definitely a good option, but they are mostly treating the symptom, not the cause of the troubles.
These meditations focus on bringing that vibration to 639hz. This means when the chakra is a green that is too bright or too dark, or when their color is a pink, orange, black or maroon that you are below or above the color frequency for green, and must work on either adding or removing energy from this chakra.
If you are struggling with envisioning the color of your chakra changing, using sound meditations can really help to bring the right energy into your chakra.
You can do this by incorporating music into meditations, as your Heart Chakra vibrates around the same frequency as the A note. Simply YouTube “639hz meditation” or type this into your Spotify. I have included a heart chakra meditation embedded below.
Epsom Salt Baths are a godsend. Seriously. I thoroughly enjoy my soaks in the tub with these bath salts (I like the Himalayan Pink Salt Epsom Salts the best), mixed with my favorite essential oils and some candle light.
If you aren’t much into baths- which I know some folks aren’t- you can still take care of yourself and find a little balance elsewhere. A nice walk in the park or nature, a good cup of coffee while you sit and enjoy it, or spending time with your pets are all great ways to help treat yourself.
The most important key to having a balanced heart chakra is removing people and energies from your life that aren't serving you or bringing you healing, peace or love.
