Forgiveness and Faith

August 26, 2020 by Victoria Dellapaolera

What does it mean, to walk through the valley? What does it mean to see the shadows around us and to love them, unconditionally?

Because by walking this valley within ourselves, we look our shadows right in the face as say "I love you". Unconditionally. We forgive ourselves for our mistakes and become connected with Mother Earth and the Creator.

Any true healer will do this. Any true healer will tell you there is no such thing as right or wrong. That is all binary, and we are not binary. We are multifaceted. We are unique, diverse, deep, and complex. We can forgive, but don't forget. We can forgive those who trespass against us. We welcome those to our tables, into our homes, and shower them with love.

With the hopes that they too, change. That they find the same grace that we hope to be filled with. That they work to be better versions of themselves. And you can not do that if you are filled with anger, hate, pride, lust, laziness, ego, or violence. You simply can’t.

We shall always forgive because it is not our place to judge or cast stones. I will always set a place at my table for those who have done me wrong and trust me there are more than I’d like to count. Because I don’t hold hate for them. I don’t hold resentment or anger for them.  Even Christ held a spot for Judas.

The True Forgiveness

No matter what happens in this world, if we truly are a Christian base- we will forgive. We will forgive for all the trespasses done against us. We will rebuild what was destroyed, and just like the phoenix, we will rise from the ashes and be stronger, filled with love and peace.

Forgiveness in itself is selfish. Because me forgiving those who have harmed me doesn’t lighten their soul, it lightens mine. It releases the pain that is holding me down. It removes the shackles I allowed others to place upon me, keeping me from rising up and meeting the Divine. Forgiveness in its own is selfish because it helps us upon our paths.

I have been done wrong by many in my life. I have never received an apology from any of those people. I have had people steal from me with my words, my teachings, and my soul. I have had people lie right to my face, as if I can’t see the venom they spew. I have been beaten until I blacked out by those I loved, and I have been neglected and forced to find myself on my own.

And through all of that, I don’t hold one ounce of hate for those who have done these crimes against me. As I said, I have never received an apology, so how can I release these emotions and energies?? Forgiveness.

True forgiveness isn’t as simple as just asking for forgiveness. It requires work. It requires releasing hate, which is incredibly hard to do. Hate is the root of all evil and doesn’t know the constructs and limitations that we as humans place upon this world. And even then, hate is a choice.

Learn to forgive ALL who trespass against us. Learn to forgive those who trespass against our children, our country, our faith, and our love.
