Dream Catcher- The Deserts of Arizona

March 6, 2019 by Victoria Dellapaolera

Salt River Wild Horses- Tonto National Forest, Mesa AZ

Sneak Peek! A few weeks ago, I visited the Salt River Wild Horses in Mesa, Arizona, and man what a difference from our wild horses up North!

As I spent some time with those wild horses, I couldn’t help but notice the relation those wild horses had to our own lives.

As we journey through this life- you can’t help but stop and wonder- how much more different this world would be if we all offered a helping hand up- instead of a knife to the back.

If partnerships could be trusted, if friendships meant something more than a chance to use someone for their gains. If community over competition was actually an applicable and plausible concept. I used to think it was just the portrait photography industry- but as I broadened my horizons I realized it was everywhere.

As these wild horses navigated through the cactus forests, the sandy terrain that offers unstable footing and the cactus – the cactus that is just everywhere- it is very similar to our own lives, and navigating through life to get to our end goals.

The path is often unstable, filled with dangers, folks who don’t always have your highest intentions in mind, and to be frank- folks who want you to fail!

It was in every industry. How do we get this way? Where we are so dedicated to screwing over the competition and getting the leg up on someone that we forget how to act like a decent human being? I refuse to let these prickly souls ruin my goals and my ambitions. And while they whine and mope about what I’ve been “given” and how “life isn’t fair”, I will just laugh and offer a hand up. I refuse to let these prickly souls stab me, drain me and leave me there to fail.

Because you see, you can’t change a prickly souls perspective. You can’t force them to drop the drama, drop the bull shit and the martyr attitude. You can’t force them to be anything but what they are- a cactus soul. But- if they chose, they could be a source of kindness and comfort for some.

Even the cactus, with its spines that sting- can offer protection, stability and hope for some.

Spirit guides us to make the right choices- if we open our eyes and our hearts. Spirit will guide us, protect us and and lead us to calm waters. But only if we listen. How many of us truly listen, soak in what Spirit has to say, and then DOES what it tells us to do!?

The other day I was mind-blown by what I experienced. But then I remembered the lives we all touch on a daily basis. The lives that you make a difference in. The lives where I offer a channel for healing, growth and prosperity. Don’t allow someone to tarnish your soul, to keep you from shining and dear lord for letting someone else shine with you, just because their perspective is shit. Toxicity is contagious, but it is also very preventable with kindness, compassion and a positive mindset.

Don’t let the fear of being poked, keep you from adventuring into the wild!

Blessed be- Victoria
