Dealing with Envy

Oh how easy it is, to look at how amazing someone else's life it. How easy it is, to assume that nobody else has struggles, setbacks, hardships or failures. Jealousy is a normal and in some cases, inspirational emotion humans can feel when feeling threatened or insecure in their life.

But you can read any blog post on any self-help site talking about why we shouldn't be jealous, and why would should love ourselves exactly how we are, but that's not what we are going to talk about today.Today we are going to talk about how envy and jealousy manifest in our spiritual bodies, and how our shadows influence these feelings.

What is Envy?

Jealousy and envy are symptoms of an imbalanced heart, but it is much deeper than that. In my experience, jealousy is linked to something much deeper within us than simply our heart, and often times has links to our childhood, our connection to our true self and our self-confidence. In my life time, I have never seen an abundant person be jealous. I have never seen someone who recognized their abundance, received what they desired and grew as an individual jealous or envious of what someone else was accomplishing.

This comes from a deep appreciation of our self, and the hard work and dedication that comes with self development. When we are working on our self, we are acknowledging and processing our shadows, working through them to become better people. We are connecting to our heritages, being authentic to ourselves and our Faith, while sharing kindness and love into the world.

How does Envy manifest?

We are constantly evolving, changing and growing; that is the human nature. Understanding that this is fact, not opinion, we can also therefor correlate the thought process that, if we are constantly evolving, changing and growing, then we are also constantly experiencing life, trauma, pain, grief, shame, guilt and anger- as well as the positive emotions such as love, kindness, grace, happiness, calmness and joy.

Acknowledging these life experiences and the influence they have on our personalities, we also have to acknowledge the reverse effects they have upon our psyche and our souls. Every interaction we experience has two effects on us- what we repress, and what we embrace. More times than not, we repress our emotions, feelings and thoughts which causes "shadows". These shadows are aspects of the personality that our ego refuses to acknowledge. Shadows can hide in all aspects of our lives, and all of our chakras. Although most shadows seem to reside in our root, sacral and solar plexus chakras due to the influences our parents and society has upon us as children.

As we grow and evolve, we have to constantly be entirely self aware of all aspects of our self, including those shadows that our ego tries to deny exist. Shadows aren't always negative emotions such as anger or jealousy. Shadows can be any repressed emotions, and every single culture is going to view these shadows differently based upon their perspectives and beliefs.

How do we cope with envy and jealousy?

So, how do we deal with envy? How do we deal with that jealousy we get when we see someone else succeeding while our lives are doing nothing but spinning wheels.  How do we deal when our journey is in a lull, while someone elses is at a peak?

The answer is very simple, shadow work and self development. By gathering deeper understandings of ourselves, we establish a stronger self worth and confidence. We begin to activate our solar plexus chakra and begin to establish boundaries for friendships, we begin to master our minds and solidify our foundations as to who we are.

Many of us literally have no clue who we are, and are as inauthentic as it can get. (Which is why so many end up experiencing a mid life crisis)

But the most important consideration when we are dealing with our envy, is developing an authentic perspective on life. We can't try and force ourselves to be someone we aren't. We can't consume our friends, duplicating their styles, methods or tastes. We can't just crawl into someone elses skin and take it for a spin!

But unfortunately, when we are insecure and disconnected from our Earth Star chakra and our heritage, that is exactly what we try to do. With the main motivation behind this behavior is consumption.

What chakras are connected to envy?

The Heart Chakra- Where the feelings of jealousy and envy exist. Jealousy, the opposite of love weighs on the heart, creating an imbalance in our hearts. When we have a true activated heart chakra, we love unconditionally and there is no room for jealousy or envy. We don't try to start drama, we don't tear others down, we don't cause pain or hurt to others. We just simply love- which is something those who are envious can't do.

The Solar Plexus Chakra- Where our feelings of self work, confidence and power reside. When we are confident, we know who we are, and focus on running our own races, cheering on our friends instead of tearing them down. We become the light in others lives. Extinguishing someone else's candle won't make your's burn brighter.

The Crown Chakra- Where our ego consumes us, refusing to allow us to see our own shadows, allowing us the ability to live in denial of our own self. We become obsessed with material possessions and putting others down. Obsessed with being superior and "better" than those we are jealous of. We find blame for others for our mistakes. We place our self worth and power in materialistic items, and by doing so give away our power.

The Root Chakra- When we have a strong foundation of who we are, and are firmly grounded in reality we aren't threatened by someone else's success. When we are connected to the Earth and allowing our fears to flow from us we don't feel threatened by those around us. We have a strong, solid foundation of what we stand for and feel safe in our friendships.

.The Earth Star Chakra- Our Earth Star chakra is often times misunderstood and overlooked. But those of us who don't have an active Earth Star chakra, can't manifest shit. When we are disconnected from our ancestors and the Earth, we can't grow. All life comes from the Earth. Without the dirt that supports life on Earth, we would all cease to exist. But yet, many of us have never connected to this chakra, and likely never will. But when this chakra is blocked, we will never be able to manifest anything we desire in our lives.

The Soul Star Chakra- Our Soul Star chakra guides us to our soul's purpose in this life. When we are allowing this chakra to guide us, we are navigating through life with divine guidance. We are lighting our path through the night, and by utilizing this chakra wisely, we can help see past our ego's and address the shadows from within; healing our souls and evolving as individuals. Ultimately, becoming better people along the way.
